Unbeaten Kansas moves up to No. 2

For Immediate Release

Another weekend of upsets, which featured No. 2 Oregon and No. 3 Oklahoma falling to unranked teams, has Kansas - the only unbeaten BCS team remaining - move up to No. 2. The Jayhawks, who play rival Missouri in Kansas City on Saturday, are one win away from taking its unbeaten record to the Big XII Championship Game. The Tigers, who moved up to No. 3 are also playing for a Big XII North Championship and keeping open the possibility of earning a trip to New Orleans to play for the BCS National Championship.

LSU, which defeated rival Ole Miss on Saturday, retained it's No. 1 ranking. The Bayou Bengals garnered 11 of 15 first place votes. Kansas received the remaining four votes.

West Virginia and Ohio State round out the top five. Georgia slid up two spots to No. 6, followed by Arizona State, Virginia Tech, Oklahoma and Oregon. The Sooners fell to Texas Tech in Lubbock, Texas, while the Ducks lost at Arizona last Thursday. Oregon also suffered another blow, as Heisman contender Dennis Dixon was injured during the game.

Dixon's injury has made Florida quarterback Tim Tebow the leading Heisman candidate. The Gators held their No. 12 ranking, one spot behind Southern California and just ahead of Texas and Hawaii. Boston College, coming off its victory over Clemson, clinched a spot in the ACC Championship Game and returned to the rankings at No. 15. The win over the Tigers in Death Valley was the Eagles first in three games.

Virginia, which hosts No. 8 Virginia Tech on Saturday, slide one spot to No. 16. The victor of the Commonwealth Cup will face Boston College in the ACC Championship Game.
