USC stays at the top, and OU jumps to No. 2. More impressed by Sooners win over Big East Cincinnati than UGA’s win over MAC Central Michigan. Ohio State, my preseason No. 1, falls to six with the close win over hapless Ohio. Fank Solich is a drunk. East Carolina moves in at 11, and given the credit I gave VaTech and WVU, they should probably be higher. I want to see what happens when they’re the hunted. West Virginia hangs on to the final spot, despite the horrible game in Greenville.

Two questions for you:
1. Without looking at preseason polls, where would you rank ECU given their first two wins?
2. Without looking at preseason polls, where would you rank OSU given their first two wins?
That is what I thought…

East Carolina - That’s right. They are playing like a top 10 team. Will they end up there? Who knows, but as of now they are definitely a top 10 team.
Texas
Arizona State
Auburn
Texas Tech - Did Nevada find a way to shut down the superstar tandem?
Alabama - When one phase of the game is struggling; you look to the other phases to step up. Hopefully Javier knows where he is today.
Oregon
Wake Forest - You can ask Kumar, I predicted a good game and it was.
Ohio State - That is right. They looked terrible against Ohio ; if they beat USC they jump big time – but I don’t see that happening.

USC - NFL team
Georgia - Jury is still out on them but you have to give them respect...still loaded talent wise
LSU - Still the champs
Florida - Looked a little shaky against Miami, but who knows??? Miami may be better than expected
O$U - Should get their asses handed to them next weekend
Oklahoma
Texas McCoy looked impressive against UTEP last night
Auburn - Have not had a chance to watch them play yet, but I know they're worthy of an 8 spot...S. Miss is always competitive as well
Penn State - Could be 6-0 heading into a road night game in Madison against the Badgers...
Missouri
TX Tech
Alabama - Struggled this weekend. I still think they're pretty good
Kansas
Oregon
East Carolina - Welcome to my top 16 Pirates!

USC - Off this week, but I saw nothing to impress me that UGA, Oklahoma, or any other team deserved the top spot
2 - Georgia - Overall looked really good, but how good of a a guide can you get continuing to play a lack of talented teams
3 - Oklahoma - Finally a top 10 team against a decent opponent. Not that Cinci was a great opponent, but it showed that both the Offense and Defense pose a serious threat to any team they play. This will be a 5-0 team going into week 6 against Texas
4 - Florida - Who would've thought they would cover the 21 point spread? Not only did they cover, but the defense held one of the fastest teams in the nation to 3 points on140 TOTAL yards. Tebow played great, both at QB and when scrambling. Tennessee is next, can they keep it going?
5 - Ohio St. - How terrible was this game. 26 points? 272 yards total offense? All against Ohio. USC is going to be a brutal slap in the face to OSU supporters if things dont improve. It wouldn't surprise me to see a 7-10 point spread in USC's favor. And I bet they'll cover.
6 - LSU - PPD
7 - Texas - No Comment
8 - Auburn - An unimpressive win, they gave up way too many yards in the air, something they wont get the privilege of doing in the SEC. Ground defense looks good.
9 - Wisconsin - No Comment
10 - Missouri - This team has yet to impress me, and I can barely support a top 10 ranking. Maybe Illinois turns out to be a better team, but it'll be week 7 before we get another look with Texas.
11 - Kansas - No Comment
12 - Penn St. - This team looks great. Maybe JoPa really has something here. A 45-14 win over a fairly good team shows this team might just be for real. The passing game is having some trouble, but the rushing, and the rushing defense are on fire.
13 - Arizona St. - No Comment
14 - Alabama - No Comment
15 - Texas Tech - I dont believe in this team at all. 19-46, from a QB, is just not going to cut it against a decent team. Yeah he may set some records, but I cant wait to see this team against a good defense?
16 - Eastern Carolina - Some big upset wins, and they're in the polls. We'll have to see just how good they are, because W Va looked like a pushover. Either way, if they keep this up, they dont play another good team until.... Oh wait, they dont play anyone again.
Jon Perry
Florida - Not sure Miami was a great test, but I figure they are keeping this spot warm for the USC / OSU winner
2. USC - Gonna woodshead the Luckyeyes, then move to #1
3. Georgia - Can they avoid the USC trap game?
4. Oklahoma - Won't know anything until Red River Classic (10/11)
5. LSU
6. Missouri
7. Wisconsin - I'm guessing better than the Ohio Bobcats
8. Kansas - On the road USF this weekend.
9. EZU - Beat 3 ranked teams going back to last year. What will they do against the unranked?
10. Auburn
11. Texas - Used UTEP like a Pensacola stripper
12. BYU - Avoided disaster w/ a bad call
13. Wake Forest - Never blows anyone out, but still seems steady
14. Texas Tech
15. bama - Probably still tired from running all over Clemson
16. Ohio State - I suppose they still need to be ranked. But one of these day their luck is going to run out when they halfass it vs. some MAC team.

Southern California - #1 until proven different
Oklahoma - No real challenges coming up soon
Georgia - Should put the rumor that the Gamecocks are #3 in the SEC East to rest this weekend
Missouri - Could be the best in the B12
Penn St - Joe Pa will finish the season as all-time wins leader
Florida - I don't think I will survive the season listening to the media promote Tebow
Oregon - Quack Attack is Back
8. LSU – They add hurricane days to their schedule
9. Wisconsin - The Big 10 title showdown may be on Oct 11 vs. PSU
10. East Carolina - I vote for Dr. Skip to replace the Dr. Lou spot
11. Arizona State - We will find out next week who belongs in the rankings The Nubtails or the Devils
12. Texas - I think they are just going through the motions so far
13. Auburn - Another SEC team with a lot of question to be answered
14. Wake Forest - Jim Grobe is the man
15. Ohio State - Bye Bye Buckeyes after this week
16. Alabama - Nothing has changed in Tuskerlooser, 36 yds of offense in first half against Two-Lane Highway?

UGA - That's where they began and that's where they stay until they lose
USC - Will meet UGA in the Nat Champ, where those two teams should have been last year
Oklahoma - Bradford looks solid and they are destroying opponents
Missouri - Better than I thought they would be
LSU - even with a bye, they maintain top 5 with impressive first win
Wisconsin - The class of the Big 11
Florida - Didn't show me much against a young and untalented Miami
Auburn - Looking good...will hit their stride soon
Texas - Under the radar
Arizona State - blowing people out and Carpenter looks good
Kansas - haven't paid too much attention so I don't know
Alabama – struggled a bit so not as good as they looked against Clemson
Ohio State - weak performance
Texas Tech - don't know much about them either
Oregon – ditto
West Virginia - ECU is this years USF and Rutgers from 2 years ago, so losing to them is not as bad. Still have a good team!

To answer Anil's first question. Had there been no preseason polls, both VaTech and West Virginia probably wouldn't have been so overrated in the first place. So East Carolina's wins, while impressive, would not look nearly as good.
