Yellow Jackets Hold off Miss St

Its hard to know how good the Jackets are this year. The offense appears to be dynamite, especially if Nesbitt is having his way with defensive secondaries. But you're left wondering about the defensive front of Georgia Tech. Miss St got push on the offensive line, and Dixon rushed for some god awful number of yards. If this is going to be a Tech team that is going to content in the ACC, they've got to start putting some pressure on the QB, and bringing pressure to stop the run. Tenuta in previous years wasn't scared to bring 9 men at the QB, even if there were 4 wideouts (I may be exaggerating, but you get the idea). Wommack appears hesitant to bring 5 men at the QB, and that leaves the QB with minutes of time and results in bad scenarios with the defensive secondary. This offense is going to be able to score points, and use an incredible amount of clock. The Jackets beat Miss St handily on offense, but the defense won the game with 5 takeaways. If the Jackets are to be successful this season, they can't rely on the turnover, but instead the D-Line has to step up. Great game, great win, and Go Jackets!

  1. Agreed, Jackets need to start bring some sort of pressure with the linebackers and secondary otherwise we will continue to give up big plays and large chunks of yardage.

  2. But…what is it the SEC fans always say?

“Its tough to win on the road in the SEC…”

Yup…sure is tough…and we’ll take the win and move onto the next game. 1-0 in the SEC sounds good no matter how you get there!

    Go Jackets!
